Cowrie shells have been used for centuries by tribes and cultures all across the African continent. In the past they were used as currency, for good luck, decoration and medicine.
Gagi is the word for cowrie shell in the language of the Luo tribe of Kenya.
The earrings are hand-cast from a shell which came from one Kenya's beautiful beaches.
These earrings were made by our brass artisan George and his team in their workshop just outside of Nairobi.
